There are times when I get this sudden cravings for chaat. And yesterday was one of those days. The craving got stronger when I saw the remaining papdis in my pantry. I couldn't rest until I found a way to use up those papdis.
Actually, this recipe is inspired from Tarla dalal's recipe book called "Desi Khana". But I have altered the recipe quite a bit as I did not have all the ingredients mentioned in the recipe. Even with all the changes, the chaat came out very well. And it was great treat for me, my husband my my lil girl as well. So here goes the recipe
Quick papdi chat recipe:
Preparation time: 30 mins
Cooking time: nil
Serves- 2
Ingredients:
Papdis: 20
Potato: 1 med, boiled and cubed
Chick peas: 1/2 cup, soaked and boiled
Carrot, 1 med, grated
For topping:
Tamarind and date chutney- 3tbsp
Green chutney- 1-2 tbsp
Fresh curds: 2tbspn
Roasted cumin seed/ Jeera powder- 1/4tspn
Chaat masala- 1/2 tspn
Salt to taste
Chilli powder: 1/2 tspn
Coriander to garnish
Method:
- Keep aside afew papdis for decoration and crush the remailing papdis
- Add the potato, grated carrots, chick peas, tamarind and date chutney, green chutney, curds, salt and chilli powder and mix.
- Sprinkle, chaat masala, cumin seed powder and mix again.
- Arrange a few papdis on top. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve immediately.
