Bella Anna or Jaggery rice

Bella anna or jaggery rice is served as a prasadam (offering) in Banashankari temple. Since the goddess is also called as Gudanna preetamanasa (one who likes jaggery rice), I thought I would make this dish for naivedya today. The rice is very simple to prepare. And the preparation is a breeze. It takes only a  handful of ingredients and the taste is just divine. Try this dish and it will be liked by adults and kids alike.

Bella anna or Jaggery rice recipe:
Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 15mins
Serves- 2

Ingredients:

Cooked Rice- 1 cup
Jaggery- 3/4th cup
Dry coconut- 1/2 cup
Cardamom- 2 powdered
Ghee- 1tbspn
Cloves-2
raisins and cashewnuts

Method:
  • In a thick bottomed pan, heat a cup of water. When the water begins to boil, add the jaggery stir till it melts.
  • Add the cooked rice, ghee, jaggery, cardamom and cloves.
  • Stir till the mixture thickens.
  • Take off the heat and garnish with fried cashew and raisins. Serve hot.
